#GenCant 2015 is coming to a close.

We hope everyone had fun chatting about games, playing games, and sharing fun photos. If you haven’t had a chance to yet, do a Twitter search (you don’t have to be a member) for “#GenCantPic” or look at the BGG GeekList to see all the amazing photo contest entries. They’re a lot of fun!

This is my first year being really aware of this, so I didn’t participate as much as I wanted, but I love the concept. It’d be awesome to have a promo next year, and/or virtual tournaments (via Yucata or BSW or whatever).

Also wishing I’d noticed the deadline on the photo contest a bit sooner 😛

I would like to say a massive thank you for all the hard work you have put into this. And that goes to everyone who has contributed, the companies and people supplying prizes, the people all around the world taking part but mostly to you the organisers. I have had a fantastic weekend inspired by you.

My first year of involvement and it was a blast. GenCant was truly a great outlet for creativity from our fun-loving community—so much fun! I was truly impressed with all the effort that went into pulling this off Suzanne. All that prize support you pulled together says so many good things about our hobby and your dedication. I trust many people will line-up to help you as things will surely grow next year. Bravo, Suzanne!

So how many days should I wait before lobbying BGG to create a Golden Geek award for “Community Contribution”? That way we can all acknowledge your efforts properly—with big metallic BLING!

I was honored to run into Team VEST at the one day when I was able to get away from #GenCant and visit with those people who couldn’t participate because they were #WorkingGenCon. Those two had nothing but big smiles and warm greetings for everyone.

Perhaps we can make that hashtag #WorkingGenCon a thing next year? It could be a hashtag especially for those of our friends bravely working the concrete and losing their voices for the greater cause! Well, let’s not get ahead of ourselves, but it’s a good sign when participating in GenCant gives you more and more ideas for fun.

So, one thing at a time…

And for right now, what’s appropriate is a standing ovation for Team GenCant!

This is my first year “attending” GenCant and it was fun. Most of my pics were actually submitted elsewhere as I was doing double duty. As a volunteer at the recent Toronto 2015 Pan Am games, one of our gifts was a small stuffed “Pachi”, the mascot of the games. Pachi joined me in some games at his first GenCant (practically all of them).

Thank you for this chance of attending a large convention without worries of large crowds (they overwhelm me).

Thanks for all of your hard work! This weekend ended up being full of non-fun responsibilities and watching the GenCant tag on Twitter felt like being part of a community rather than just sitting alone envious of GenCon. Looking forward to more fun next year!

I had so much fun figuring out the Tweetsteriums and Twitcepts. The photos were entertaining as well. I’m going to laminate my badge and treasure it forever! 😉 Now off to play with my GenCan’t “ThanksAmazonSale!” Haul!
