Hi everyone!

I posted this on Twitter, but wanted to capture it on the official website too.

Hi All – time for some real talk.

While I’ve had the support and time contribution of some wonderful people in the past, GenCant has always been largely driven by a single person – me. It’s a passion project, an event I adore putting on and seeing people enjoy.

But THIS year – due to some unforeseen circumstances, GenCant will scale back. Unfortunately, the free time I typically use to plan events, create puzzles, partner with publishers etc. has been eaten up by some urgent stuff in the personal life.

I hope you understand and this doesn’t diminish your excitement for our community event. I turn to you to help make it a wonderful few days for everyone who can’t attend Gen Con. And in no way does this indicate a reduced commitment to GenCant overall. Just… life happens.

To be clear, we are absolutely having GenCant this year. And next year. And the year after that… etc.

We received dozens of intriguing entries to the GenCant game contest and we look forward to debuting that as planned. I am also planning on hosting a prize raffle (as we have every year.) But unlike the last two years, we will not be able to have people opt in and out of prizes.

Thank you for your patience as I do my best to coordinate the details of the game contest and raffle. GenCant may be a bit more casual this year – but remember how we started! Just like this. Thanks for your support.

Thanks for all the time and effort you put into this each year Suzanne. No worries, family and personal life should always come first. I’m currently on a two week business trip in Israel, so definitely missing family myself right now. Thanks again for #GenCant!
